en The International Association of Magistrates was founded in 1953 in Salzburg (Austria). This is an international group of professionals non-partisan, not of individuals, but of national associations of judges. The main objective of the Union is to ensure the independence of the judiciary as an essential element of the judicial system and the rights and freedoms of individuals. The Uim now has 70 national associations or groups representing the five continents.
